Why isn't there any [Internet Explorer] icon on the desktop of my VAIO computer?

    Why isn't there any [Internet Explorer] icon on the desktop of my VAIO computer?
    or
    I would like to know how to display/hide the [Internet Explorer] icon on the desktop.

    To display/hide the [Internet Explorer] icon, please refer to the following procedure to establish the settings from [Internet Properties].

    --Procedure--
    # In the case of Internet Explorer Ver. 4.0

    1) Click [Start] -> [Settings] -> [Control Panel].

    2) Double-click on the [Internet] icon. The [Internet Properties] dialog box appears.

    3) Click the [Advanced] tab.

    4) Select the [Show Internet Explorer on the desktop (requires restart)] checkbox in the [Browsing] item.
    (If you do not want to display the [Internet Explorer] icon, uncheck the box.)

    5) Click [OK] to close the [Internet Properties] window.

    6) Restart the computer.

    # In the case of Internet Explorer Ver. 5.*

    1) Click [Start] -> [Settings] -> [Control Panel].

    2) Double-click on the [Internet Options] icon. The [Internet Properties] dialog box appears.

    3) Click the [Advanced] tab.

    4) Select the [Show Internet Explorer on the desktop] checkbox in the [Browsing] item.
    (If you do not want to display the [Internet Explorer] icon, uncheck the box.)

    5) Click [OK] to close the [Internet Properties] window.
