How to add/remove Windows components on Windows XP?
To add/remove Windows components, please follow the steps below.
A. How to add Windows components
Note: Log on to the system as a user of an Administrator group.
1. Click Start and click Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. In the Add/Remove box of Windows Components Wizard, select the check boxes of the components to be added and click Next.
* Shaded check box indicates that some subcomponents of the component are selected. To add other subcomponents, click the Details button and select the check boxes of subcomponents to be added. If the Details button of a component is shaded, it means there is no subcomponent in that component.
4. The installation of the components starts.
5. When the Files Needed dialog box appears, insert the Windows XP CD-ROM in the drive.
To use the network drive, insert the CD-ROM in the drive and click OK. In the File Needed dialog box, click the Browse button and at the stored location of the Windows XP Install File, click Open.
6. Click Finish.
B. How to remove Windows components
Note: Log on to the system as a user of an Administrator group.
1. Click Start and click Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. In the Add/Remove box of Windows Components Wizard, clear the check boxes of the components to be removed and click Next.

To remove other subcomponents, click the Details button and clear the check boxes of subcomponents to be removed.

4. Click Finish.
