Why does the brightness of the LCD screen decrease automatically?

    * The LCD screen turns dimmer after leaving the VAIO computer on and unattended.
    * The LCD screen turns dimmer when the VAIO computer is operated via the battery.

    Follow the steps below to edit the default profile setting in PowerPanel:

    A. For users with PowerPanel Version 3 or later
    1. Right-click the PowerPanel icon in the Taskbar, and then click Edit/Create Profiles....
    2. The Profile Editor window appears.
    3. Select one of items in the profiles list on the left-panel and double-click LCD Brightness - Level 1 (dark) of LCD/Video setting on the right-panel.
    4. Select the desired brightness of the LCD. For example, select Level 9 light.
    5. Exit the Profile Editor window and save the changes.


    B. For users with PowerPanel Version 4.0
    1. Right-click the Battery icon in the Taskbar, and then click Edit/Create Profiles...
    2. The Profile Editor window appears.
    3. Select one of items in the profiles list on the left-panel and double-click LCD Brightness - Level 1 (dark) of LCD/Video setting on the right-panel.
    4. Select the desired brightness of the LCD. For example, select Level 9 light.
    5. Exit the Profile Editor window and save the changes.

    Note:
    When the power supply source is changed to the battery, PowerPanel switches to the Maximum Performance profile automatically. The AC profile maintains the brightness of the LCD screen at Level 9 (light), while the Maximum Performance profile sets the brightness to Level 1 (dark).

    Please take note that the operating time of the computer is shorter if the settings of the LCD is set to full brightness, as more power is consumed in this way. Battery duration described in the catalog is achieved only when the power saving functions are fully utilized.
