Regarding the information of User Account Control in Windows Vista.

User Account Control

    User Account Control (UAC) is a new function of Windows Vista. Using User Account Control (UAC) of Windows Vista can stop the computer to unauthorized changes. Therefore,according to User Account Control (UAC),users of non Administrator Account can perform application programs and tasks.

    User Account Control will implement when users perform the following operations.

    User Account Control will implement and the User Account Control dialog box will display before users perform the operations which may affect the running of the whole computer or change user's settings. UAC message will appear when users perform the following operations.

    • Run items with
    • Right click the icon of the program and choose Run as Administrator
    • Run unknown program

    When UAC message appears, please first check whether the name of the program or operation to be performed is correct, and then click Continue or type the password of Administrator Account to confirm. Please refer to the following solutions for more details.

    Change User Account Control

    Enable or disable User Account Control function

    Attention Different User Privilege have different available functions and interfaces displayed. User Privilege is set up by the User Group which the user belongs to. The following are the main user groups.

    User Group name

    Introduction

    Administrators

    Having the Administrator's authority to perform all the operations of the computer.

    Standard Accounts

    Only having part of the Administrator’s authority which is different from Administrator. ※ Guest Accounts also include some Standard Accounts.


    The User Account Control dialog box displays.

    When users performing the operations below, the following dialog box will display. For the Administrator Account Click Continue.

    For Standard Account Type the password of the Administrator Account and click OK.


    Change User Account Control

    User Account Control can change the settings of Administrator Account and Standard Account. Regarding operation steps, please refer to the following solutions.

    Note After the User Account Control function disabled, when users restart Windows, the warning message of disabling the function will display. Message: Check your user Account Control Settings, User Account Control is turned off Click this notification to fix the problem.

    Users can enable or disable the function of User Account Control by performing the steps below.

    1. Click Start,and then click Control Panel.
    2. Click User Accounts and Family Safety.

    3. Click Users Account.

    4. Click Turn User Account Control on or off in User Accounts.

    5.Click Continue, or input the password of the Administrator, and click OK in User Account Control.

    6. Choose Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer, and then click OK.

    If users uncheck the option,then the User Account Control function is disabled.

    1. When You must restart your computer to apply these changes dialog box appears,restart Windows.

    Reference information When the function of User Account Control has been disabled,users can enable it via User Account Control in Other security settings of Security Center.

    Remark The situation may improve, or users may not able to perform the previous operations after the User Account Control function has been disabled. Please recommend the users to terminate the User Account Control function to avoid the problems.
