    How to use the sharing printer on Windows9* or Windows Me from Windows 2000.

    Make settings in the following procedure.

    When you make settings on Windows 2000 and Windows9*/Windows Me respectively in the following procedure, you can use the sharing printer on Windows9* or Windows Me from Windows 2000.

    (1) To make settings on Windows9*/Windows Me on the computer to which the sharing printer is connected
    (2) To make settings on Windows 2000 on the computer from which the sharing printer is used

    (Procedure)

    (1) To make settings on Windows9* / Windows Me on the computer to which the sharing printer is connected

    (Point to be checked)
    Check in advance that "File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks" is installed additionally.

    1. Click the "Start" button and then click "Printers" from "Settings".
    2. Right-click the icon of the printer you want to set connection sharing and then click "sharing".
    3. Click the option box of "Shared as:" on the "sharing" tab in "(Printer name) Properties". To limit the use with a password, type the password in the "Password" text box.
    4. Click the "OK" button.
    5. The mark of a hand that shows "sharing" appears on the printer icon you have set to "sharing".

    (2) To make settings on Windows 2000 on the computer from which the sharing printer is used
    1. Log on to the computer with Administrators.
    2. Click the "Start" button and then click "Add Printer" from "Settings"-"Printers".
    3. When "Add Printer Wizard" starts, click the "Next" button.
    4. Click the option button of "Network Printer" and then click the "Next" button.
    5. On the "Locate Your Printer" window, click the option button of "Type the printer name, or click Next to browse for a printer", type in the "Name" text box the printer name appeared in the option box of "Shared as:" in the procedure 3 in "To make settings on Windows9* / Windows Me" and then click the "Next" button. When you do not know the printer name, click the "Next" button without typing any in the "Name" text box.

    (When you have not typed any printer name in the procedure 5)
    Computers belonging to the same work group appear on the "Browse For Printers" window. When you double-click a computer to which the sharing printer is connected, the printer you can use appears. Click the printer you use and then click the "Next" button.

    6. When the printer driver of the computer to which the sharing printer is connected is not installed to the computer that uses the sharing printer, the following message appears. Click the "OK" button and install the printer driver to the computer from which you use the sharing printer.

    "The server on which the "Shared as:" printer resides does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to install the driver on your local computer, click OK."

    7. The message "Do you want your windows-based programs to use this printer as the default printer?" appears. Click the "Yes" option button when you use this printer by priority. When you do not use it usually, click the "No" option button and then click the "Next" button.
    8. Click the "Finish" button.
