Why can't the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive automatically play CDs or DVDs in Windows® Me?

The CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive can no longer automatically play CDs or DVDs in Windows® Me.

Please refer to the steps below.

1. Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click System and click Device Manager tab.
3. Double-click CDROM and double-click on the desired CD-ROM drive.
4. Click the Settings tab.
5. Make sure that the Auto Insert Notification option is selected.
6. Click OK and click Close.
7. Click Yes to restart Windows.
